SEPA Information Display
Renewable Energy Performance & Showcase
The Scottish Environment Protection Agency [SEPA] is Scotland’s environmental regulator. Its main role is to protect and improve Scotland’s environment. SEPA does this by helping business and industry to understand their environmental responsibilities, enabling customers to comply with legislation and good practice and to realise the many economic benefits of good environmental practice. SEPA’s position on climate change recognises that it is the greatest threat to our physical and socio-economic future. The organisation has produced a climate change plan which contains details about how SEPA will reduce its own carbon emissions
SEPA operates across 22 regional offices with its regional headquarters, Inverdee House, located in Aberdeen. A wind turbine and solar panels have been installed on the building and the organisation approached Logic Energy to see if they could provide a live monitoring solution that would not only measure data but also provide an information display solution that would show the public SEPAs commitment to renewable energy in-house and reflect SEPAs work in monitoring Scotland’s industrial and urban centers. As Scotland’s leading environmental regulator it was important that the organisation used a reliable and trustworthy monitoring company who could deliver them a high level of service and help them to promote good practice.
The Logic Energy Solution
Logic Energy supplied the company with its live remote energy solution which could show green energy generated, energy consumption and Co2 emissions at the Aberdeen site. Wind speed, wind direction and solar radiation sensors are connected to the system to monitor the efficiency of these installations. The live data is displayed through a customised dashboard displaying information in an easy to read format. The system allows information to be connected and shared in real-time and will be able to show total CO2 offsets generated by the company across all sites once it is connected to other regional sites in the future.
SEPA seeks to advise, influence, regulate and monitor the impacts that changes in energy supply, transmission and consumption can have on the environment and use this information to inform and influence others. Logic Energy provided them with a truly automated management system that is a good tool for SEPA to use themselves delivering accurate and detailed information on their own investment.
The Logic Energy monitoring system also provides SEPA with easy to read information displays that can be shared live through a customised web portal to all interested parties. As a leading environmental regulator the organisation has an excellent display interface that can be shared easily and remotely with all stakeholders.
