Newark Primary and Nursery School

Inverclyde Council is amalgamating two primary schools into one 680 pupil school together with an 80/80  nursery facility. The school design incorporates natural daylight and ventilation strategies to all occupied areas.

The new schools will be called Newark Primary and Newark Nursery. The vision is that the new buildings will be carbon neutral and meet the highest energy efficiency standards.

Logic Energy was asked by the client for a child-friendly display that could be used as an education tool as well as a display for the reception area. A fully customised web-based display system was the most practical solution,  allowing all children to log in to the display from any networked school computer.

The display will monitor four wind turbines and a small weather station. This is presented with a Graphical User Interface front-end with lots of real-time tabular data behind so that it can be used by all ages.

The graphical front-end can be visited by any PC or Web enabled device with an Internet connection. Thus allowing flexible learning and the opportunity to display in as many areas as required for a relatively low cost compared to standard LED display technologies which look dated.
