Logic Energy has donated their innovative live monitoring solution to an impressive renewable energy project in Palestine. The project, Comet-ME, is aimed at facilitating environmental and socially sustainable energy supply for some of the poorest and most marginalised communities in Palestine. A joint venture between Israel and Palestine, Comet-ME has already brought green energy to eight other Palestinian villages, and supplied many families with regular electricity for the first time.
Working closely with a number of parties, including EWB-Denmark, the Swiss Olive Oil campaign, the New Zealand embassy in Ankara and IPCRI, Comet-ME’s latest installation was in the Hareibat-a-Nabi village in the West Bank. The area is home to some of the poorest families in Palestine, and has been the subject of numerous evacuation threats by the Israeli government. Hareibat-a-Nabi has been under Israeli control for over 40 years, but the government considers the village an illegal settlement. The people have been subjected to continual threats, military action and have had to rebuild their homes on a number of occasions. As a result, the area remains unconnected to the national grid, resulting in a torrid existence for the people of this marginalised region.
However, Comet-ME’s ability to work with both the Palestinians and the Israelis has allowed this renewable energy project to go ahead, and give the people of this village the opportunity to generate energy using renewable technology. The system consists of 8 solar panels and a 1kW wind turbine, and is monitored by Logic Energy’s live LeNET monitoring device and managed using the LeSENSE web portal.
The LeNET monitoring device (pictured) enables the community to log the energy being produced by the renewable systems, while the LeSENSE web portal allows management and continual live monitoring of the system from any location globally. This will enable Comet-ME to check the system is operating and producing energy remotely, and allow a quick resolution if anything goes wrong.
Co-operation and collaboration has allowed this venture to become a reality, and Logic Energy is very proud to have played a role in changing the lives of some of the worlds poorest and most under privileged families.
