The International Small Wind Conference (ISWC) took place in Glasgow between the 27th and 28th of April, and Logic Energy were proud to be among 32 exhibiting companies over the two days. According to RenewableUK (formerly BWEA), the conference was the biggest international Small Wind event ever held. The conference attracted over 700 delegates from more than 20 countries.
The show was also used as a platform to launch the 2010 Small Wind Systems UK market report, commissioned by event organisers RenewableUK. The central industry report projected huge growth in the Small Wind market this year, with estimates of 181% anticipated compared to the 25% growth experienced in 2009. The domestic market in the UK is already strong, and is in fact the second largest market in the world for small wind systems behind only the United States. Large growth is expected on the back of the introduction of the Government’s Feed-In Tariff, which pays owners money for the amount of clean energy they produce from domestic renewable installations.
The event was attended by key figures from the international microgeneration industry, national Governments, the construction and financial sector as well as domestic and business consumers from throughout the UK and abroad. CEO of Logic Energy, Eduardo Estelles commented on the inaugural ISWC: “The ISWC was a really excellent opportunity for everyone in this rapidly growing sector to meet together and learn more about each others products. The increase in the popularity of Small Wind installations has had a big impact on the remote monitoring market – the importance of investing in live remote monitoring systems has never been more relevant; organisations need to look after their reputation and ensure their installations are operating properly and in line with documented expectations.”
“It is vital for companies and customers to install monitoring equipment and carry out extensive site evaluations before installing a wind turbine. Obtaining accurate performance projections for the site could enable the user to generate significantly more energy by simply increasing the height of the turbine or moving it further away from obstructions. Site selection cannot be undermined and is something that both the buyer and the organisation must get right.”
