Hamilton Separate School Board in Canada Completes Wind Turbine Project

Daisy Energy Canada

After many months of planning and hard work from all parties the Hamilton Wentworth Catholic District School Board is the proud owner of six Daisy DS3000 three kilowatt vertical axis wind turbines and two Daisy DS300 hybrid solar and wind off grid lighting systems. Each turbine comes with a Logic Energy monitoring and display package that allows teachers and students to access data from the turbines and other sensors in real time over the internet. Morris Hucal, Principal of Programs and driving force behind the boards decision to install the turbines, states that the real benefit is not so much the power being generated by the turbines but the teaching opportunity for the students.

“The turbines not only symbolize our boards commitment to the environment but also provide a very visible and interactive way for our students to learn about sustainability.”

Morris also states that “There is a real need for our students to understand where energy comes from and the costs, both environmentally and financially, associated with wasting energy.”
